Mundus maris Awards for World Oceans Day 2019

The Female Faces of the Ocean

The United Nations have dedicated World Oceans Day 2019 to Women and Ocean. The Mundus maris Awards would like to contribute with the following contest and its prizes.

Theme 2019: Women and Ocean. Put a female face to thinking the ocean.

How can you think the Ocean in the light of a woman's life, work and happiness?

Be inspired by your daily life, the memories of your family, the traditions of your community, your research on nature and culture, your knowledge of history, and your imagination for the future world. Submit your unique view and idea!

Guidelines for participation for individuals and groups:

Your contribution has to fit into the A4 format (21 x 29,7 cm portrait or 29,7 x 21 cm landscape) up to a maximum of three sheets A4 (excluding the cover page). Please submit your contribution digitally as high resolution JPG or PDF.

Possible form of contributions

  1. 1. Images: Drawing/Painting/Picture;
  2. 2. Texts are admitted in five languages (English, French German, Italian, Spanish): Essay/Poem;
  3. 3. Mixed technique: free combination of images and text.

Categories for allocation of prizes for all types of contributions

  1. a) Children (ages up to 14)
  2. b) Young People (ages 15 - 25)
  3. c) Intergenerational team of children or young people with adult participation.

Date of Award announcement is June 8, 2019, World Oceans Day

Awards:

There will be cash awards selected by an international jury, diploma awards and larger public recognition through publication of winning submissions. The decision of the jury is final.

Cash awards: A total amount of 2000 EUR will be available for prizes.

Diplomas: Every appropriate entry will be awarded with a MM Award 2019 Diploma

Publication: The Digital Museum MM Awards 2019 will publish every laureate's entry online with the respective name(s), institution (if appropriate) and country.

Consider the following before submitting

Entries must include a cover page indicating: (1) your name (2) category (Children, Youth, Intergeneration) (3) age(s) as of 6 May 2019 (4) an authorisation of a parent or caretaker for minors with name, relationship, country (5) nationality (6) e-mail (7) phone number (8) name of school (if applicable) (9) the title of your entry (10) language.

Teachers may submit a collection of essays from their class or group. Please enclose a list of participants' names, ages and the name and contact information of the submitting teacher or director.

Entries missing any of the above information will not be considered.

Essays and/or images must be original and unpublished. Plagiarised entries or entries of inappropriate content of a violent or discriminatory nature will be rejected. Copyright of all materials entered remains with the author(s). Mundus maris has the right to publish and disseminate for non-commercial purposes.
